Site Offers U.S. Business Search in Foreign Languages

A new company is differentiating itself from the major online business directory publishers, such as SuperPages.com, by presenting its business listings in three languages.

Typically, yellow pages results are available in English only or users must go to a separate Web site to translate results. But Tyloon.com, El Monte, CA, in beta, lets users search its 15 million U.S. business database in English, Spanish and Chinese. It plans to add French, Japanese and German.

Tyloon founder Barry Su said it is the only service allowing the search in other languages in one step. It serves the growth of the Spanish-speaking and Chinese populations in the United States, he said, and lets individuals from other countries search for U.S. businesses. Nearly 25 percent of the U.S. population speaks Spanish or Chinese, according to Su, as do 1.6 billion people worldwide.
