Silverpop uses London office to expand internationally

E-mail marketing firm Silverpop is expanding its business internationally into the European and Asian markets.

The ESP’s London office will be spearheading the global expansion under the guidance of Will Schnabel, who was recently appointed to vice president of international markets.

“The UK alone has grown from virtually nothing to virtually 10% of our overall business in the last two years,” said Jim McCormick, EVP and CFO at Silverpop. “What we have not tackled are Scandinavia and Benelux [Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg], and we wanted to grow our presence in Asia.”

Previously Schnabel was VP and GM of Vtrenz, Silverpop’s b-to-b division. In his new position, Schnabel, who has an international business background from Japan to Germany, will be responsible for overseeing Silverpop’s international operations and expansion strategy across Europe and Asia.

Silverpop’s international marketing operations will be managed from its London office, which has recently doubled in size.

According to Forrester Research, the European e-mail market is expected to increase from $2.36 billion in 2007 to $3.6 billion in 2012. E-mail marketing firms e-Dialog, CheetahMail and Datran Media all have offices in London and operate in Europe as well.

Headquartered in Atlanta, Silverpop has offices throughout the US and the UK and serves clients including Fossil and JetBlue.
