Silverpop names Holmen SVP of marketing

Meet the new SVP of marketing at Silverpop: Eric Holmen. The marketing technology company hired the former SVP of The Marketing Arm’s wireless division in mid-January with Holmen taking office last Monday, February 21. The move marks the latest in the 39-year-old’s twenty-year career in marketing (Yes, he’s worked in marketing since he was 19 years old. Seriously.).

Holmen oversees the department’s media, operations, field events, customer marketing and product marketing divisions as well as Silverpop’s London-based marketing group.  A team of nine managers directly reports to Holmen. Holmen reports directly to Silverpop CEO Bill Nussey.

Holmen replaces Scott Voigt who will be leaving the company start his own business, said Holmen. Voigt will remain with Silverpop through the transition.

Holmen said he is taking a “a leadership role in the overall strategy of the company” and will handle strategies and operations of Silverpop’s marketing department and strategies and operations of product marketing.

One of Holmen’s goals for Silverpop’s marketing efforts, he said,  is to raise awareness of the company’s achievements and capabilities for business-to-business and business-to-consumer e-mail marketers “who are looking to upgrade to more automated marketing and strategic marketing operations within their digital plan.”

Prior to working at The Marketing Arm, Holmen had previously worked at SmartReply, Catalina Marketing and Sears. He said his time at SmartReply and Catalina Marketing taught him how to navigate new marketing technologies through the adoption curve, which will help him in marketing Silverpop’s automation capabilities.

There were no internal candidates for the position, said Holmen who also said that he learned about the position through his networking channels.
