Sharper Image Corp., San Francisco, reported last week a six-fold increase in Internet sales on its Web site at www.sharperimage.com during the first three weeks of December.
Also, store sales rose nine percent, and mail order sales rose 27 percent during the same period, Sharper Image reported. “Internet sales continued their very strong performance in December,” said Sharper Image chairman and CEO Richard Thalheimer in a statement. “The 492 percent increase topped a 436-percent increase in November.” Referring to Sharper Image's proprietary product strategy, Thalheimer added, “these popular exclusive products … enabled us to improve our gross margin by over two percentage points compared to last year.”
