Shackleton’s Marian joins OgilvyOne NY as chief creative

OgilvyOne New York has named Alfonso Marian chief creative officer, reporting to North American chief creative officer Steve Simpson. Marian will partner with Mat Zucker, who will also continue to serve as the office’s chief creative officer.

Marian will join the New York office after working for seven years at Shackleton, Madrid, most recently as executive creative director of direct and digital. He began his career at CP Proximity in Madrid in 1994.

The Ogilvy network has made several key hires in the past year. Parent agency Ogilvy & Mather appointed Brandon Berger global chief digital officer last year and named Martin Lange executive marketing director of digital strategy.

Simpson said in a statement that Marian is “one of the major creative forces in the industry” and noted that “his hiring is one of the successes of our ongoing and aggressive talent strategy.” An Ogilvy representative could not be immediately reached for comment.

Marian won the 2009 Irving Wunderman Award, recognizing lifetime achievement, at the John Caples International Awards. He has won 15 Caples awards, as well as numerous Cannes Lions and DMA Echo awards.
