Sears selects MicroStrategy for business analysis, reporting

Business intelligence software provider MicroStrategy Inc. said Sears Holdings Corp. has selected its company to support multiple business intelligence applications.

Hoffman Estates, IL-based Sears Holdings Corp., the publicly traded parent of Kmart and Sears, Roebuck and Co., is the nation’s third largest broadline retailer, with about $50 billion in annual revenues, and with approximately 3,800 full-line and specialty retail stores in the United States and Canada.

Founded in 1989, McLEan, VA-based MicroStrategy is a global leader in business intelligence technology. It provides integrated reporting, analysis, and monitoring software that helps leading organizations worldwide make better business decisions every day.

MicroStrategy said Sears and Kmart associates will use its technology to report on and analyze data to more efficiently manage their business. With MicroStrategy, Sears’ business users can gain greater insights into sales, inventory, ordering, and market basket information to make timely and analytically based decisions.

MicroStrategy’s Web interface and self-service infrastructure also will save time for Sears Holdings’ business users and eliminate the need to request special reports from the IT organization.
