Search Engine Gets Graphic

TheBrain.com, Santa Monica, CA, yesterday unveiled its WebBrain search engine program that infuses graphics into the normal model for search engines.

WebBrain allows users to see query results mapped out in columns of lists with hi-tech imagery adding background on the screen.

Shelley Hayduk, spokeswoman for TheBrain, said the system will be marketed to e-commerce sites and Web portals, as well as large corporations that need a search engine for their company intranets.

Price of the system was not disclosed.

According to Hayduk, the system’s graphics and ability to find specific information on a broad subject are what separates WebBrain from similar programs. Other systems are more generally tooled to find broad information on specific queries, she said.

“A lot of users don’t know what exactly they are looking for,” Hayduk said. “Some people want to discover things about spear fishing or snorkeling. There’s no better way to find out this stuff but through WebBrain.”
