Schmidt Acquires Card Deck Assets from Scoville Press

Web-offset printer Schmidt announced last week that it has acquired the cooperative direct mail and reader service card lines of business from Scoville Press Inc. in Plymouth, MN.

Schmidt, headquartered in Byron, MN, serves magazine, newspaper and catalog publishers across the country and direct marketers around the world. It specializes in printing blow-ins and bind-ins for magazine and catalog publishers, freestanding inserts for newspapers as well as the production and distribution of cooperative direct mail packages.

Scoville, based in Plymouth, MN, a direct mail printer and mailing house that produces direct response card packs.

Schmidt said the purchase of Scoville's print and collating assets greatly enhances its abilities to serve the direct mail and publishing markets.

The addition of Scoville's technology also enables Schmidt to capitalize on the strengths of both organizations, broadening the spectrum of products and services to now include full-bleed card decks and unlimited size configurations of cooperative direct mail packages in addition to in-line UV coating.

Additionally, the reader service card line of business is a natural fit with Schmidt's strong reputation in the magazine publishing industry.
