Sawyer Honored With HVDMA Founders Award

Longtime direct marketer Bob Sawyer was the 2003 recipient of the Hudson Valley Direct Marketing Association's Founders Award.

Sawyer began his career in the 1960s as an employee of Reader's Digest Association, Pleasantville, NY. He later started direct response divisions for ad agencies Compton Advertising and BBDO International. He served as managing director of N.W. Ayer prior to starting his own firm, Sawyer Direct, a marketing and advertising consultancy.

In addition to the award, Sawyer was named vice president of the HVDMA board for the 2004-05 term. Sawyer received the award at the HVDMA holiday party Dec. 5 at Tamarack Country Club in Greenwich, CT.

The HVDMA was formed in the late 1980s as a networking and informational club for direct marketers in the Hudson Valley area including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
