SAP Names New CMO and First CDO

SAP this week appointed a new CMO, Maggie Chan Jones, and named outgoing chief marketer Jonathan Becher its first chief digital officer.

Jones joins the enterprise software provider from Level 3 Communications. As head of marketing for the Internet networking company, she directed strategy, marketing campaigns, and was responsible for achieving financial goals tied to marketing activities. During seven years at Microsoft, she led efforts to establish a global partner framework for cloud services and launched BPOS, the company’s first cloud offering.

Jones succeeds Becher, who as SAP’s chief digital officer will drive a newly created digital business unit into areas such as content and data. “Jonathan will not only be responsible for building a major new revenue stream for the company, he will also make Run Simple a reality for customers and consumers that engage with us digitally,” said CEO Bill McDermott in a statement announcing the executive appointments.

Becher joined SAP in 2009 as SVP marketing and was named CMO in 2011. He previously served as CEO of Pilot Software and Accrue Software.
