Sable to Head Mailing Industry Task Force

KISSIMMEE, FL — David Sable, vice chairman and chief operating officer of the global direct marketing firm Wunderman, agreed to take over as chair of the Mailing Industry Task Force.

The news came during yesterday's keynote speech by Postmaster General John E. Potter at the 2006 National Postal Forum here.

The task force is a coalition of industry and U.S. Postal Service leaders formed in 2001. It aims to assess the role and value of hard-copy mail in business and consumer communications to evaluate the competitive environment affecting the industry's future and to identify opportunities.

Sable replaces Michael J. Critelli, chairman/CEO of Pitney Bowes, Stamford, CT.

Sable has returned to his New York City office after more than a year in Europe where he was president/CEO of Wunderman's Europe, Middle East/Africa region. He has worked with the USPS in a number of roles since 1992, including on the task force.

Potter said he looked forward to working with Sable and encouraged attendees to share their ideas for the task force through Postal Customer Councils, the Mailers Technical Advisory Council and the task force directly.

Sable agreed and thanked Critelli, his task force mentor. Potter also paid tribute to Critelli, saying that under his leadership, the group “fostered an atmosphere whereby collaborative working relationships with the private sector allowed the USPS to sharpen and refine strategies and tactics.”
