Rodgers Townsend Wins CADM Best of Show for Maritz Travel

CHICAGO — The Marketing Store in Oakbrook Terrace, IL, and Draft Inc.'s Chicago office won 15 prizes apiece at the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing's 34th annual Tempo Awards ceremony April 7 at Navy Pier.

While Rodgers Townsend, St. Louis, took home 13 Tempos, the agency won the top CADM Past Presidents' Award for a Maritz Travel business direct mail effort.

The Marketing Store's haul included the fifth annual Jay Gondelman Award, for client Verizon Wireless' “Build Your Own Rocket” online sweepstakes campaign.

Among other agencies, Foote Cone & Belding bagged nine Tempos and DDB Chicago won eight. Digitas, Grey Direct and Two By Four each gained four awards.

A total of 107 Tempo trophies and certificates were presented at CADM's 51st Annual DM Days & Expo for work produced between July 1, 2003, and June 30, 2004. Tempo judges used a numeric scale to honor first-, second- and third-place winners in 17 categories for creative achievement and marketing results. Judges could not evaluate work submitted by their own employers.

Also, CADM named Susan Kryl, president of Kryl & Co., as its 25th Charles S. Downs Chicago Direct Marketer of the Year. A 40-year veteran of Chicago direct marketing, Kryl was also CADM president in 1980-81 during its 25th year.
