RMI CEO Stein dies at 58

Martin Stein, CEO of RMI Direct Marketing, died March 8 after a battle with cancer. He was 58.

Memorial services will be held the afternoon of March 11. RMI’s offices will be closed through the weekend, according to a statement from the company. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Institute for Cancer Research.

Stein founded RMI in 1985 after working five years at Walter Karl. He became CEO in 1992. A voting member of the Direct Marketing Association, he also was a member of the DMA List Council and Nonprofit Federation.

Stein is survived by his wife, daughter and son. A fan of Italian opera, he was a board member of the Charles Ives Center for the Performing Arts in Danbury, CT. Stein also volunteered on the fundraising committee of the Danbury Hospital Cancer Center and donated to the AIDS Project of Greater Danbury.

“A few words aren’t enough to express what a great man he was,” said RMI president Tally Maffucci.
