Return Path Named Exclusive ECOA Provider for Postal Service

E-mail change of address service provider Return Path Inc. is expected to announce today an exclusive agreement with the U.S. Postal Service in which it will provide consumers with change of e-mail address services through the postal service's MoversGuide.com Web site.

The service is expected to be fully integrated into the MoversGuide.com site tomorrow, Return Path said.

“When people change residences, they frequently change their e-mail address in addition to their postal address,” said Matt Blumberg, Return Path's CEO. “By providing Return Path's e-mail change of address service with the existing postal service official change of address process, the entire moving process becomes more convenient and hassle-free for consumers.”

MoversGuide.com is a portal that lets consumers change their postal address with the USPS and a number of utilities and services. The USPS has offered Internet change of address services since 1996. However, in the early 1990s it developed MoversGuide.com with technology firm Imagitas to help consumers change their physical and e-mail addresses.

Stuart Montaldo, general manager of Internet products at Imagitas, said the company expects to handle more than 1 million e-mail address changes this year.

“E-mail change of address is a great complement to the postal change of address service,” he said.

Imagitas plans to redesign the MoversGuide.com site to give more prominence to the Return Path e-mail address change service and to offer easier navigation, Montaldo said.

“It also will provide significant new advertising opportunities,” he said.
