Return Path E-Mail Change-of-Address Service Grows to 90 Million Addresses

Return Path Inc. said its e-mail change-of-address network has grown to 42 companies and has more than 90 million e-mail addresses.

Recent clients include clothing retailer Brooks Brothers, the Radisson hotel chain, MarketsOnDemand, Restoration Hardware, ModernBride.com and Publishers Clearing House's PCH.com.

Return Path competes with Veripost in the e-mail change-of-address market. Veripost is privately held, and the number of addresses it has was not available. Another competitor, ActiveNames, went out of business last month.

Return Path's change-of-address service works similarly to the U.S. Postal Service's National Change-of-Address service. The Return Path network acts as a permission-based clearinghouse that lets consumers and businesses notify each other regarding e-mail address changes.

Carolyn Everson, president/CEO of ModernBride.com, said her company uses Return Path's change-of-address service to keep in touch with new brides during their first year of marriage.

“It's important for our business to stay in touch with the bride after she's married to assist her in the first year of marriage and registry completion services,” Everson said.
