Report: UPS to test DM service next week

UPS will jump into the direct marketing arena next week, testing a service that will allow advertisers to provide offers and product samples to UPS customers, according to a report in The New York Times. The service, called Direct to Door, will enable companies to use UPS to deliver marketing materials inside “Direct to Door Paks,” which will be brought to customers with merchandise they ordered.

The test will run from September 28 to October 2, according to the Times, which notes that UPS reported its sixth consecutive quarter of lower package volume in July.
