Report: Computer Use Grows and Grows

Web research firm Harris Interactive Inc. yesterday announced a list of expectedly positive results for e-marketers from a recent survey that said computer and Internet use in American homes and work places has risen dramatically in the last five years.

In a December telephone poll of more than 2,000 adults, the Rochester, NY-based firm found that 47 percent of them used computers at work and 79 percent of those users were online. More than 50 percent of the adults owned computers at home, compared to a 30 percent mark three years ago. A total of 69 percent of adults surveyed used a computer at home, work or at some other location. This figure is up from 50 percent in late 1995.
