Rent.com Tool Helps Students Find Off-Campus Housing

Rent.com has developed a new search process designed to make it easier for college-bound students to find off-campus apartments. The enhancement comes with a $100 bonus given to students who rent an apartment via Rent.com but only upon completion of their lease.

With the new technology, the Santa Monica, CA-based company lets renters quickly search property listings on a geo-targeted basis. For instance, students can apply key filters like the number of bedrooms they would like, their preference for pets, the state and college or university they will be attending and their budget range. Rent.com then searches through its university search database to yield the property closely matching the students' requirements.

Founded two years ago, Rent.com claims to be the nation's largest producer of verifiable lease transactions. Its database lists more than 17,000 properties with 3.3 million apartment units in 1,500-plus major and minor real estate markets nationwide.
