Redford Sells Majority in Catalog

Private equity firms ACI Capital, New York, and Webster Capital, Boston, acquired majority ownership of Sundance Catalog Co. from Robert Redford, according to published reports.

The deal is being valued at $20 million to $40 million.

Allen Eichhorn, a spokesman for the actor/filmmaker, wouldn't comment on what percentage of the Salt Lake City company Redford retains, or the amount of money involved in the deal, which was announced July 2. But he did say that Redford would stay actively involved in the operation of the catalog.

“This is a partnership that [Redford] has entered into,” Eichhorn said.

Redford founded the Sundance catalog in 1989 along with the Sundance Institute, Sundance Film Festival, Sundance Channel and Sundance Village Resort.
