Red Hat Acquires Hell’s Kitchen Internet Payment Software

Internet technologies company Red Hat Inc., New York, announced yesterday its purchase of software firm Hell’s Kitchen Inc., Pittsburgh.

Red Hat will bundle HKS’ credit-card verification system software with the Professional Edition of its Red Hat Linux operating system, providing users with an e-commerce server and services.

Red Hat also will add HKS’ 150 Internet service providers, online merchants and financial institution customers through the agreement. Red Hat, which purchased Cygnus Solutions in November, said it would continue to purchase software firms in anticipation of a post-PC market.
