Reader's Digest has partnered with Pethealth Inc. to market a line of pet insurance services, the company announced yesterday
William Adler, director of corporate communication at Reader's Digest Association, Pleasantville, NY, said the three-year agreement allows Pethealth to offer accident and illness insurance for dogs and cats throughout the United States and Canada. Pethealth, Montreal, will begin offering its service in the United States in the spring.
As part of the program, Pethealth will target U.S. customers by using direct mail and advertising in Reader's Digest publications, including Reader's Digest magazine, Walking and New Choices.
Reader's Digest will use its database of more than 100 million people to target readers interested in pet insurance services, Adler said. About 50 million people in its database live in the United States and Canada. Of that number about 20 million are pet owners, Adler said.
“This fits a number of different things we have been doing as part of our growth strategy,” Adler said. “We've been looking for areas where it makes sense for us to combine our abilities with a partner that brings something special to the table.”
