Rapp Collins Names Speed Chairman, CEO

Direct response agency Rapp Collins Worldwide, New York, part of the Diversified Agency Services unit of Omnicom Group Inc., this week named Malcolm Speed, 47, chairman and chief executive, effective May 3.

He joins Rapp Collins following a six-year stint at Bronner Slosberg Humphrey, Boston, where he was executive vice president and partner. Prior to that, Speed was president at Travelers International, a vacation packager, and before that he held marketing posts at the Hertz Corp. and Trans World Airlines.

At Rapp Collins, he replaces G. Steven Dapper, who left in December 1998, to form Hawkeye Communications, New York, as president and chief creative director.

Edward R. McNally Jr., RCW president and chief operating officer, will continue to run Rapp Collins’ day-to-day operations, and will report to Speed.

Thomas L. Harrison, chairman and chief executive of Diversified Agency Services, said in a prepared statement that Speed would “enhance strategic support for clients in the areas of brand development, service innovation and customer loyalty.”

Rapp Collins Worldwide maintains 51 offices in 28 countries and has billings in excess of $1.78 billion.
