Rapp Collins Worldwide, Chicago, a division of Omnicom Group, New York, appointed Ian Baer as president of its Chicago office, effective immediately. Baer replaces Michael Carney, who is considering opportunities within the overall Omnicom network.
Malcolm Speed, chairman/CEO of Rapp Collins, praised Baer’s history with the company and said his latest appointment “was a reflection of his impressive capabilities and success in expanding a number of our key client relationships in New York.”
Baer, 33, has worked for the agency’s New York office on the Pfizer, Kaiser Permanente, M&M/Mars, Western Union and U.S. Navy accounts.
“It’s an amazing time [to be working] in the direct marketing industry,” Baer said. “Agencies like ours that have their eye on the future will be ahead of the game.” But in order to stay there, Baer noted, “we can’t wait for clients to tell us where their marketing fits in. We need to approach them as partners and [build] together.”
Rapp Collins Worldwide has 54 offices across 28 countries and 1998 capitalized billings more than $2.004 billion.
