Radiohead Plugs its New Album With Instant Messaging

Capitol Records band Radiohead will promote its new album, “I Might Be Wrong — Live Recordings,” using the band's GooglyMinotaur instant-messaging interactive agent.

Radiohead fans have been adding GooglyMinotaur to their instant messaging contact lists since June to receive information about the band. According to Capitol Records, GooglyMinotaur has been added to more than 387,000 instant messaging buddy contact lists.

Along with promoting GooglyMinotaur online through MTV.com and other Web sites, radio stations and online retailers, Capital Records is using GooglyMinotaur to drive offline Radiohead fans to the Internet. The instant-messaging agent will be featured in all print advertising, in-store point-of-purchase displays, and as part of an MTV2 television campaign for the live album.

Users can preview songs from “I Might Be Wrong,” the band's first album of live recordings taken from last summer's tour. The content includes previously unreleased songs, live videos and new commercials.
