CBS radio station KLLC, San Francisco, has mailed over 400,000 CD-ROMs to prospective listeners in its area.
The mail piece offers recipients the chance to win $10,000 if they use the CD-ROM, which includes a three-minute video commercial for KLLC that combines video and computer graphics.
After placing the CD-ROM into their computers, recipients are asked to enter in demographic information such as age, gender, zip code and e-mail address. Users are then informed if they’ve won the prize. Non-winners are immediately offered another chance to win the money if they continue on with the CD-ROM.
IQ media group, formerly known as IQ television group, developed the CD-ROM called “Netpak” for KLLC.
KLLC, 97.3 FM, uses a modern rock format and also calls itself “Alice @ 97.3.”
