Qwest Communications, Denver, yesterday signed a multiyear, multimillion dollar contract to host the U.S. Mint's e-commerce applications.
Qwest will provide Web hosting and professional services as well as equipment. Other services include guaranteed network availability, mirrored east coast/west coast data centers for geographical efficiency and high capacity bandwidth.
The U.S. Mint, which began online sales last year, plans to sell $125 million in collector coins through mail order, online, wholesale and retail channels.
