Quebecor Snares All L.L. Bean Catalogs

Cataloger L.L. Bean gave Quebecor World a contract to print 100 percent of its catalogs, a deal worth more than $100 million in sales to the commercial printing house, Quebecor World said yesterday.

Quebecor World, Greenwich, CT, a major subsidiary of Canadian printing giant Quebecor Inc., called the agreement a “multi-year contract” but did not provide further details.

Quebecor World's plants in Augusta, GA, and Franklin, KY, will print catalogs for L.L. Bean. In addition, Quebecor World will provide mailing list services to L.L. Bean out of its facility in Bensenville, IL. L.L. Bean said Quebecor World has indicated that it will make “significant capital investments” to support the new contract.

According to Quebecor World, L.L. Bean mails more than 200 million catalogs annually, printed in various sizes and formats on both offset and gravure presses. Quebecor World, which claims to be the world's largest commercial printer, has 160 printing plants and 40,000 employees worldwide.
