Quebecor expands co-mail by 50 percent

Quebecor World Logistics is increasing its co-mail offering at its new mailing facility by 50 percent through the purchase of an additional 30-pocket co-mail machine.

Co-mailing is the process of mingling individual mail pieces from multiple mailing streams into a single mailing stream in order to improve the U.S. Postal Service delivery and sorting characteristics of the total mailing. This reduces postage and the number of times mail pieces are handled within the USPS.

QWL’s Express Collation Mailing System offers Standard catalog co-mail pools. The new machine, which is expected to come online in the first quarter of 2007, will create additional customer value by allowing more magazine publishers and catalogers to reduce their postal costs and improve delivery, QWL said.

The 314,000 square-foot Bolingbrook, IL, facility pioneered the co-mailing of short-to-medium run magazines when it opened in 2005. Customers using the QWL’s co-mail system have been able to reduce their postage expenses while improving the delivery quality and predictability of their publications.

Bensenville, IL-based QWL Group is a division of the Montreal, Canada-based printer Quebecor World Inc., also operates a co-mail, poly bag, and offline mailing facility in Trenton, TN.

Quebecor World Logistics provides logistics and mail list services for Quebecor World and third-party customers, managing distribution and mailing services for catalogs, direct mail, magazines, newspaper inserts, books and bulk printed products.
