Quad/Graphics launches commercial, specialty division

Printer Quad/Graphics has created a commercial and specialty print division, combining the recently acquired HGI Company operations with those of its magazine, catalog and book-printing business.

Craig Faust, former president of HGI and now president of the newly created unit, said the group will give corporations a “turn-key solution” for printing services.

The specialty division, which includes HGI’s Tempt in-store unit, will work in tandem with the company’s other services. For example, in-store display printing “mirrors up to retail inserts,” said Faust.

The company said it will also invest $13 million in equipment and facility expansions next year, including building expansions, digital and conventional presses for short-to-medium-run commercenial work and specialty print.

Quad/Graphics completed its acquisition of HGI, a commercial and specialty printer, in November, and closed its acquisition of Worldcolor in July.
