Q2 Revenue, Net Income Increase at FTD

Revenue at FTD for the second quarter of fiscal 2003 was $88.8 million, up from $76.3 million in the year-ago quarter, the company said yesterday.

Net income was $3.3 million compared to $1.9 million during the same quarter a year ago, excluding non-recurring gains and charges. The consumer business segment revenue increased 32.4 percent to $48.7 million. Revenue increased at the florist business segment 1.4 percent to $40.1 million. The consumer business segment consists of FTD.COM, an Internet and telephone marketer of flowers and specialty gifts.

In other news, OfficeMax Inc. reported that during its fourth quarter, which ended Jan. 25, domestic, same-store sales improved 8 percent as the company posted its fifth consecutive quarter of year-over-year improvement. Comparable-store sales for OfficeMax's Mexico operations fell about 17 percent during the fourth quarter, primarily because of the weakening of the Mexican Peso against the dollar.
