Publishers Clearing House Expects to Choose List Manager by Week's End

Publishers Clearing House said that it expects to choose a list manager for some of its files by the end of this week and to have the files on the list market over the next few months.

“We're talking to three or four list managers, and we hope to have a decision by the end of (the) week,” said Linda Gewirtz, senior director of prospecting at Publishers Clearing House, Port Washington, NY.

Until the decision is made, PCH will remain mum on what the files will be or who the contenders for list management are, though two candidates were rumored to be Direct Media Inc. and List Services Corp.

“We're really not giving a lot of specifics at this point until we reach an agreement with a list manager,” Gewirtz said.

The PCH files have not been available to the list community since the early 1990s when they were taken off the market for privacy reasons. Among its customer base, PCH has lists of magazine and merchandise buyers as well as sweepstakes entrants from both offline and online.

As for list brokerage, PCH has its own internal list broker and also works with List Services Corp., Bethel, CT.
