Promotion Offers Advertisers 1,000 Free Clicks

Iwant.com is offering advertisers 1,000 free clicks to test its new advertising service.

The direct response advertising provider claims the service — Instant Opt-In — averages a 25 percent click-through rate and a 5 percent conversion rate.

The promotion, started this week, allows advertisers to sign up for the service at a minimum of $10,000 in exchange for 1,000 clicks at no cost. The advertiser has the option of canceling the rest of the deal if not satisfied with response rates.

Instant Opt-In matches marketers in real time with consumers who opted in to receive promotions and offers. Consumers can state exactly what they are looking for, and the service matches their requests with relevant offers from participating advertisers.

Iwant sends e-mail alerts to notify consumers about new deals. Thereafter, consumers are driven via a hyperlink to a personalized “Deal Center” on the publisher's Web site where advertisers post new offers and promotions.

“The benefit to the advertiser is the only people who will see the advertiser's promotions or offers are people who have expressed an interest in receiving those types of offers or promotions in real time,” said Robert Kadar, vice president of sales at iWant, Burlington, MA.

“Instead of marketers spending money trying to reach and identify consumers who might be interested in a product, consumers enter our system and tell us what it is that they're purchasing, and we just match them to relevant marketers' promotions and offers,” he said.

There are 350,000 active consumers using the service, Kadar said, and the company has about 150 advertiser clients. The service is distributed across a network of about a dozen small and midsize Web sites, he said.

After a three-month testing period, iWant plans to go live May 1, at which time it will announce a partnership with a “top-three portal that reaches about 125 million unique monthly users,” Kadar said. The name of the portal was not disclosed.
