Print-on-Demand Firm Gets Harper Collins

Lighting Source has picked up New York-based publishing firm Harper Collins as a client for its print-on-demand services.

The deal allows potential Harper Collins customers to order out-of-date or rare books at the publisher's site, www.harpercollins.com.

As of last week, Harper Collins offered eight titles via the print-on-demand service. Viewers wishing to buy the books are asked to click links to Harper Collins retail partners such as Amazon.com, Borders.com and BarnesandNoble.com.

From that point, Lighting Source prints the books as the orders come in at its headquarters in Lavergne, TN. The company electronically stores more than 20,000 book titles in its digital library for various publishing partners.

Financial terms of the deal were not announced.
