Commercial print house Transcontinental said Friday that it bought the remaining 33 percent minority interest in its Mexican operation, Impresora Transcontinental de Mexico.
According to Montreal-based Transcontinental, 100 percent ownership of Impresora will position it to expand operations in the Mexican market, which the company has identified as key to its overall growth. Impresora — which includes book-printing company Editorial Offset, acquired by Transcontinental in June — operates three plants in Mexico, two of them in Mexico City and one in the city's suburb of Toluca. They generate $81.9 million in revenue per year.
Transcontinental also owns a door-to-door advertising business in Mexico. In total, it employs about 1,200 employees in Mexico out of its 12,000 workers in North America.
