Priceline.com yesterday debuted a service that allows people to custom-build vacation packages and name the price they want to pay for them.
Priceline.com, Norwalk, CT, claims the service offers more flexibility than other vacation-package providers.
Under the service, the customer enters the desired destination, the departure city, the departure and return dates, the number of rooms wanted and the number of adults, children and infants who will be traveling. Priceline.com responds with a list of participating hotels in that area that are available on the specified dates.
The customer then chooses a hotel and the price he or she wants to pay for the package. Participating airlines pick the flight times. Flights booked through Priceline.com depart between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. on the days customers specify and can have a maximum of one connection each way.
