Postal Clerk Accused of Identity Theft

An East Haven, CT, woman who is a postal clerk in Stamford, CT, has been charged with identity theft, according to the Associated Press.

Gail Worthington was arrested last week, accused of using information obtained at work to get credit cards in other people's names, according to the report.

Worthington is charged with identity theft, illegal use of a credit card and third-degree larceny after a joint investigation by U.S. Postal Service inspectors and East Haven police, the report said.

Police said that a search of her apartment turned up merchandise allegedly bought with fraudulently obtained credit cards from upscale stores. Police found personal identification of several victims, plus credit card numbers, postal routing codes, phone numbers, proof of residency and merchandise order information, according to the report.
