R.L. Polk & Co. will offer vehicle registration data for Puerto Rico, the company announced yesterday.
The agreement between Polk and Puerto Rico allows the firm access to information for all vehicles registered in Puerto Rico.
The data is not available through any other U.S. firm and will be updated on a monthly basis.
R.L. Polk & Co., Southfield, MI, licenses motor vehicle registration data to automobile manufacturers and dealers for statistical purposes, such as research sampling and aggregate market research.
The registration data cannot be used to target individual vehicle owners, because Puerto Rico complies with the Driver's Privacy Protection Act, which mandates that drivers give specific permission before their information is released for any direct marketing purpose.
