Pitney Bowes Subsidiary Scores Deal With La Poste

Pitney Bowes Inc. said yesterday that French subsidiary Secap Groupe Pitney Bowes, which specializes in supplying mail stream equipment and solutions, secured a major national deal with La Poste to provide third-party mailing solutions.

Secap Groupe Pitney Bowes will provide France's postal service with 250 networked mailing machines from its DM series, which helps enterprises optimize management of their high-volume mail. The new systems will help La Poste expand business services offered to customers.

All products in Pitney Bowes' DM range were certified for La Poste in December. This certification lets Pitney Bowes expand its mailing system sales in one of the world's largest mailing markets. The three-year deal (one year, twice renewable) is worth about $6 million.

The standard third-party mailing system consists of a weigh-on-the-way system meter (DM 1000), connected scales, a printer, a micro-computer and associated software. The DM series can automate all steps in the mailing process; it seals and weighs envelopes, calculates the postal rate, then prints the indicia.
