Pitney Bowes Inc. and security service firm Michael Stapleton Associates yesterday unveiled a partnership to provide X-ray mail and package screening for government and private sector customers.
Michael Stapleton Associates will combine its SmartTech remote X-ray screening system with Pitney Bowes' mail and package screening services. The SmartTech technology can capture a suspicious image and transmit it to an operations center for evaluation by a bomb technician.
The system will allow for the evaluation of suspicious packages in real time and avoid unnecessary evacuations. Michael Stapleton Associates also will provide other support to Pitney Bowes, including X-ray equipment, explosive-sniffing dog service and on-site training.
