Pitney Bowes’ James to retire

Juanita James, VP and chief marketing and communications officer at Pitney Bowes, announced her retirement from the company on November 15.

Pitney Bowes said James won’t be replaced. Instead, the corporate marketing and communications functions will report to Joe Timko, the company’s EVP and chief strategy and innovation officer.

James had a direct marketing background before joining Pitney Bowes in 1999. She had worked as a SVP of Time Inc.’s Book of the Month Club, and as an EVP of marketing at Doubleday Direct.

She joined Pitney Bowes to handle two human resources projects and became VP of direct marketing strategy in 2004. In 2006, she became chief communications officer, in charge of internal and external communications and investor relations. A year later, she added the corporate marketing functions to her duties.

As CMO, James oversaw the revamp of the Pitney Bowes brand, relaunched the company’s Inside PB internal Web portal, and led a global expansion of the public relations functions.

James could not be immediately reached for comment.
