Pita chain uses mobile coupons to draw workers

Extreme Brandz has tapped Cellfire Inc. to move into the mobile coupon market for its Extreme Pita brand chain of fast food stores and offer consumers discounts at 27 stores across the country.

The company chose Cellfire after deciding that it wanted to be in the mobile space, but didn’t want to have to deal with collecting mobile phone numbers from its customers. The new partnership lets Extreme Pita acquire new customers through the Cellit mobile search network.

“We wanted to get into a new market-ing medium and we decided that plac-ing ads in the Cellfire network would be better than just doing a text campaign,” said Scott Grandin, VP of marketing at Extreme Brandz. “We don’t have to worry about asking customers to opt in, which can be difficult in a franchise situation.”

Cellfire’s platform lets consumers search for businesses or services at any location. A Cellfire member searching for a restaurant in an area with an Extreme Pita store will receive see a pop-up ad for a coupon. Extreme Pita is offering Cellfire subscribers a coupon to buy a regular size pita and get a free combo, as well as a coupon for $2 off a second pita, with a regular sized pita and drink.

Consumers can subscribe to Cellfire’s mobile coupon service to receive the Extreme Pita discounts at Cellfire.com or by texting “pita” to 22888.

Users are also invited to enter their e-mail addresses to receive monthly e-mails from Extreme Pita. Cellfire also works with fast foods chains Hardee’s, Taco Bueno and Wienerschnitzel.
