Pets.com yesterday bought the assets of its main rival Petstore.com.
The assets include its customer database, newsletter subscribers, domain name, trademarks and content, as well as its live fish business, Flying Fish Express, and several strategic supplier businesses.
Petstore.com’s Web site began directing all traffic to Pets.com yesterday.
Pets.com also acquired Petstore.com’s partnership with Discovery.com, which includes an e-commerce deal and cross-promotions through television, print and the Internet. It also inherits a relationship with food and drugstore chain Safeway.
