PetEdge Prepares Anniversary Issue

PetEdge, a direct marketer of pet supplies for pet-care professionals and independent retailers, will mark its 47th anniversary with the largest catalog in its history: a 200-page fall issue that mails Aug. 22 with a circulation just under 500,000.

Last year's fall book was 186 pages, with a circulation about 10 percent below this fall's catalog.

The foldout cover is decorated with balloons, streamers and plush animal toys. Featured offerings include new toy and clothing items from the company's exclusive Zanies and Casual Canine lines such as cable knit sweaters and rawhide candy canes.

Andrew Katz, president of PetEdge, Topsfield, MA, says in a letter to recipients that 500 new products have been added, including pet stairs for SUVs, grooming tables, vitamin-enriched biscuits and holiday toys.

“Continued new product development and devoting more space to our exclusive brands helped drive the increase in page count,” he said. “We had approximately 10,000 SKUs in last year's fall book.

“Our business grew in excess of 20 percent last year, and our growth this year will be comparable. We're selling to more categories of businesses, including hardware stores, home decor outlets and automotive centers, which also led to the increase in circulation this fall.”
