PennySaverUSA.com ads to appear in Google search results

Search leader Google and the PennySaverUSA.com, a geographic and demographic target-marketing service, agreed to display PennySaver’s classified ads, coupons and other business data on Google and Google Maps.

Google will receive the data online from PennySaverUSA.com and its affiliate publishers. The data will include business name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address, hours of operation, payment methods and other relevant information.

The addition of the shopper and free community paper industry’s business data, combined with its local feet-on-the-street sales force, will allow small and mid-size businesses to reach more potential customers looking for the products and services they provide, Eric Stein, director of local sales at Google, said in a statement.

Rancho Cordova, CA-based PennySaver is a publication of Harte-Hanks Shoppers.

The local business listings and offers will appear on Google Maps search results when a consumer is searching for related information. The coupons offer savings from local small and mid-size businesses across the United States, including dry cleaners, dentists, handymen and pizza stores.

The company services small businesses across America that traditional media outlets tend to overlook, Loren Dalton, president of PennySaverUSA.com, said in a statement. Through this new relationship the company can provide the same businesses with a doorway into Google and its network of Internet advertising, she said.

When this information is posted on Google Maps and PennySaverUSA.com, the local business customers gain additional exposure to online shoppers who otherwise may not get detailed information online about their products or services, Ms. Dalton said.

Mr. Stein said that Google and Google Maps users would have the ability to find local business information in both subject and geographic areas of immediate interest.
