Peachtree Debuts Online Wireless Grocery Service

Peachtree Network Inc., an online grocery and food-related service available at PeachtreeNetwork.com, launched the first wireless Internet grocery shopping service, the company said yesterday. Residents of Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver, British Columbia, now can shop for groceries over the Internet via Internet-enabled cellular phones.

The launch is a cooperative effort among Peachtree Network, Bell Mobility, Speedware Corp. and Peachtree Network grocers, including Sun Valley Fine Foods, Mourelatos Supermarkets, Country Grocer and Strong's Markets. The wireless service is scheduled to be available by Labor Day in 14 other U.S. and Canadian markets covered by the Peachtree Network.

“At Peachtree Network, we pride ourselves on anticipating consumer needs. We were the first to bring a Web supermarket into the home, and today we make a giant leap by placing the grocery store in the shopper's pocket,” Jeremy Lee Jones, Peachtree Network’s president and chief operating officer, said in a statement.
