PC Connection Inc., Merrimack, NH, a direct marketer of personal computers and accessories, said its first-quarter sales increased by 33 percent over first-quarter sales of a year ago, to $224.8 million, compared with $168.6 million in the year-ago period.
The company said sales from its outbound telemarketing managers totaled $128.8 million, up 51 percent over telemarketing sales of $85.3 million in the year-ago period. The telemarketing results also are a 14-percent sequential increase over the fourth-quarter results.
Unassisted sales through the Internet more than doubled in the first quarter, to $12.2 million, vs. $5.6 million in the first quarter of a year ago. The total of Internet sales sourced from the company's Web sites, including orders processed online and Web-generated phone orders, totaled $27.1 million in the recent quarter, up from $10.9 million in the year-ago period. Internet sales were 12 percent of the total net sales.
The company said it planned to report full results for the first quarter on April 26.
