Oversight, compliance company started for magazines

Former director at Hearst Communications, Bridget Wells, has started Periodical Watchguard, LLC, an independent company that provides oversight and compliance review for the magazine industry.

The company aims to make client members aware of compliance issues, highlight fraudulent offers of periodicals by unauthorized sellers, offer assistance with legal follow up and quantify the resulting loss of profits from consumer sales.

Periodical Watchguard will also maintain a Professional Advisory Board to ensure industrywide coverage. The board will consist of prominent circulators, agents and other leading industry representatives.

Advisors will work with publishers and agents to stay on top of the needs and activities within the industry.

Ms. Wells previously served as the director of partnership marketing, agency resources and ABC Services at Hearst Communications. She was responsible for third party sales for all of the 18 consumer magazine titles.
