Omniture founder steps down at Adobe

Josh James, founder of analytics company Omniture, will resign as SVP of the Omniture Business Unit at Adobe Systems at the end of this month. Adobe bought Ominture last fall.

He will be succeeded by Brad Rencher, previously VP of business operations. Rencher will serve as VP and GM of the Omniture Business Unit, reporting to Adobe president Shantanu Narayen.

James’ resignation comes as Adobe is restructuring various divisions. The newly formed creative and interactive solutions business unit is comprised of Adobe’s rich media and Flash software. It is led by SVP and GM David Wadhwani, previously the VP and GM of the company’s Platform Business Unit for two years. The unit will serve designers, developers and media publishers, the company said in a statement.

Another new business unit, Digital Media Solutions, will be led by SVP John Loiacono, who previously led Adobe’s Creative Solutions group. Comprised of Adobe’s digital imaging software brands, the unit seeks to better serve creative and video professionals.

The Omniture division’s suite of products will also begin to use Adobe’s Scene7 rich media technology.

Adobe acquired Omniture last October for $1.8 billion in part to help clients better track their online campaigns.

An Adobe representative declined further comment on James’ resignation.
