Ohio AG Alleges Credit Card Scam

The Ohio attorney general's office filed a lawsuit last week against a company it claims marketed credit cards via direct response radio spots but gave customers only credit card applications in exchange for a fee.

Credit Now Inc., a company doing business as Commercial Products, charged a “processing fee” of $149 to $159 for credit cards that never came, Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro alleged in the lawsuit. The company also failed to register with the state as a corporation doing business in Ohio and as a telephone solicitor, according to the Ohio attorney general's office.

In July 2004, the Arkansas attorney general's office brought similar charges against the company. There is no listing for Credit Now Inc. in the Tulsa area.
