New York — Internet audience measurement company Nielsen//NetRatings yesterday announced it has launched a service offering “new media” market data to be available later this month.
The service will offer information on streaming media and Internet bandwidth and connection speeds, including local market data for some larger markets.
The service will, for example, offer data on what types of new media players (Real Player, MP3 Players, etc.) are the most popular among Internet users.
The service will offer weekly “spotlight” reports on what it deems to be a hot company or market sector. It will also offer monthly “Hot & Not” and trend reports.
Nielsen//NetRatings monitors the surfing behavior of a panel of about 36,000 home Internet users.
